Te mapa
Columbus is built around the confluence of the Scioto and Olentangy rivers, which join just west of downtown. From above, the two waterways draw soft lines through an otherwise rectilinear city. Downtown sits on a compact grid centred on the Ohio Statehouse, and from there broad avenues run outward in straight lines toward suburbs that extend in every direction across flat land.
The city is the capital of Ohio and its largest city. North of downtown, the Ohio State University campus forms a large, distinct block of paths, quads and sports fields along the Olentangy. To the south, German Village keeps its brick-lined streets and small lots, which show on the map as a finer, tighter texture.
A Columbus map poster captures the city at a useful scale: the rivers, the grid, and the Interstate 270 outerbelt that loops around the whole metropolitan area. That ring road is one of the most legible features on the map, a closed circle that gives the sprawling street network a clear frame.

Interstate 270 encircles the city in a large loop, a clean boundary line that makes the whole metropolitan shape readable on a single poster.
The Ohio State campus appears as a large open area of curving paths and fields north of downtown, distinct from the surrounding residential blocks.

Columbus maps go up in first apartments near campus, in homes of Buckeye alumni, and in offices of people who moved here for work and stayed. The rivers and ring road make a composed, balanced image.
