Te mapa
Dayton sits in south-western Ohio at a meeting of waters. The Great Miami River curves around the northern and western edges of downtown. The Stillwater joins it from the north, the Mad River arrives from the east and Wolf Creek from the west. On a map these channels divide the city into distinct sections, linked by a series of bridges.
Downtown is a compact grid within a bend of the Great Miami, with the older streets of the Oregon District on its south-eastern side. After the Great Flood of 1913 devastated the city, the Miami Conservancy District built dams and levees that still shape the riverbanks today. Much of that river corridor is now given over to parks and trails.
Dayton was also home to Wilbur and Orville Wright, who developed their flying machines here. Aviation still defines the city through Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and the National Museum of the United States Air Force to the north-east. A Dayton map poster draws together rivers, grid, levees and parkways, the outline of a city shaped by water and flight.
The Great Miami, Stillwater and Mad rivers converge near downtown, and their curving channels and bridges give the map its most memorable shapes.
Straight blocks fill the bend of the Great Miami, a tight grid that anchors the composition and contrasts with the sweeping river lines around it.
Levees built after the 1913 flood line the rivers, and much of the land beside them is now parks and trails, forming clear open corridors on the map.

Koteā ko Dayton
Dayton means many things: aviation history, a family home, a university, a first job. A map holds all of that in one image. The title, subtitle and coordinates can be set to a neighbourhood, a year or a name that matters to you.
Choose from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Blueprint suits the city's engineering story especially well. The $9 digital files come in six sizes, or you can order a matte printed poster, framed in wood if you like.
