Te mapa
Faranah lies in the savanna of Upper Guinea, on the Niger River, not far below its source in the highlands near the Sierra Leone border. Here the Niger is still a young river, and on the map it winds through low, open country in narrow bends. The town sits beside it, a loose arrangement of streets and blocks with roads leaving towards the rest of the region.
Faranah is the capital of its region and is known as the birthplace of Ahmed Sékou Touré, Guinea's first president. The surrounding land is mainly savanna and floodplain, with fields and small villages linked by tracks, and that openness gives the map a lot of pale space around the town.
A Faranah map poster shows the start of one of Africa's great rivers in a modest setting. The Niger here is thin and winding rather than wide, the street pattern is simple, and the countryside stays open on all sides. The quiet composition makes the river's early course the centre of the image.
Close to its source, the Niger forms narrow, winding loops beside the town, very different from the broad river it becomes further downstream.
Faranah's streets form wide, loose blocks, with plenty of space between them, which keeps the map light and easy to read.
Around the town, the land is low and open, crossed by tracks and small watercourses that feed into the river during the wet season.

For people from Faranah and the wider Upper Guinea region, the map shows home through its river and familiar streets. For anyone interested in geography, it marks an early point on the Niger, a quietly meaningful place to hang on a wall.
