Te mapa
Floridablanca lies in the Santander department of Colombia and forms part of the Bucaramanga metropolitan area, on its southeastern side. On a map, its lower districts merge with the neighbouring cities, while its eastern side runs up steep slopes toward the mountains. The terrain bends the streets into curves wherever the ground rises.
The city has an old colonial centre around its main square, and newer residential developments have spread across the valley and the hillsides. It is known throughout Colombia for obleas, thin wafers filled with arequipe, a local speciality sold in shops around the town. Many residents commute to Bucaramanga, and the cities share main roads.
A Floridablanca map poster shows the transition from valley to mountain. Near the plaza, a regular grid holds the older streets, and larger roads link the city with the rest of the metropolitan area. To the east, the pattern breaks up into winding roads and open slopes, where the city meets the Andean foothills.
The historic centre around the main square keeps a small, regular grid of blocks, the oldest part of the city's street pattern.
Roads curve and zigzag up the mountainside to the east, and the dense urban fabric gradually opens up into steep green land.
Main roads join Floridablanca to Bucaramanga and its neighbours, forming a continuous urban corridor through the valley.
