Te mapa
Sogamoso lies in the department of Boyacá, in a high valley of the Colombian Eastern Cordillera at roughly 2,500 metres. The city occupies the flat floor of that valley, so its streets run in a wide, fairly regular grid that stops where the slopes begin. On a map the mountains frame the town on several sides, giving it a clearly bounded outline.
Before the Spanish conquest, Sogamoso, known as Suamox, was a sacred centre of the Muisca people and the site of a temple to the sun. A reconstruction of that Templo del Sol now stands in the city's archaeological museum, which is why Sogamoso calls itself the City of the Sun. Lake Tota, the largest lake in Colombia, lies a short way into the mountains.
The valley is also industrial, with steelmaking and quarrying in the surrounding area, and the road toward Nobsa and Duitama runs north-west along it. A Sogamoso map poster shows the regular core, the newer edges pushing toward the hills and the main roads threading out of the valley, a clear record of a mountain city.
The central streets follow a regular chequerboard across the level ground, a legacy of the Spanish colonial layout extended block by block as the city grew.
The museum grounds with the reconstructed Muisca sun temple form a small open area within the city, marking a sacred centre that existed long before the grid.
Steep slopes rise around the valley, and the street pattern thins and bends where it meets them, creating a natural frame around the poster.

Koteā ko Sogamoso
Sogamoso means something to people from Boyacá living elsewhere in Colombia or abroad, to those who studied here, and to travellers who used it as a base for visiting Lake Tota. Its bounded valley shape gives a poster that feels complete and deliberate.
Set a title such as Ciudad del Sol, add a subtitle with a name or a date, and adjust the coordinates line. Sand and Paper give a warm tone, while Classic black and white, Noir and Blueprint offer sharper contrast.
