Te mapa
Zipaquirá lies on the high plateau of the Bogotá savanna, about 50 kilometres north of the Colombian capital. Its historic centre follows the Spanish colonial grid, with straight streets meeting at a large main plaza, while hills rise to the west of the town.
The town is best known for its Salt Cathedral, an underground church carved inside the tunnels of a salt mine in the hill above the town. Salt mining here long predates the Spanish arrival. Gabriel García Márquez also studied at a secondary school in Zipaquirá as a young man.
A Zipaquirá map poster shows the regular grid of the old centre, the main plaza at its heart, and the newer neighbourhoods spreading across the savanna. The hill with the salt mine sits beside the town as open space. It is a well-balanced, recognisable image of one of Colombia's best-known smaller towns.
The historic centre is laid out on straight, perpendicular streets in the Spanish colonial pattern, giving the heart of the poster a clear, orderly structure.
The large central plaza, with the cathedral on one side, forms an open square among the surrounding blocks, the focal point of the town map.
West of the centre, the hill containing the salt mine and its underground cathedral appears as open ground bordered by winding access roads.

Koteā ko Zipaquirá
Zipaquirá is memorable for visitors and important to those who grew up there. A map of its streets captures the plaza, the grid and the hill in a form that suits many interiors.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, perhaps with the date of a visit. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand.
