Te mapa
Gerona sits in the province of Tarlac, on the wide plain that runs north from Manila toward the Ilocos and Cordillera foothills. From above, the town reads as a compact cluster of streets threaded along the main north road, with barangays spreading out into a patchwork of paddies, irrigation lines and farm tracks. The ground is almost perfectly level, so the map is drawn by roads and waterways rather than by hills.
The town shares its name with the Catalan city of Girona, using the older Spanish spelling. That link dates to the colonial period, when many Luzon towns were given Spanish names. Today Gerona is mainly an agricultural municipality, and the rhythm of the rice seasons is written into its land use. Drawn as a Gerona map poster, the town centre becomes a dense knot of lines surrounded by a quiet, open field of rural roads.
What makes the place legible from above is contrast: a tight grid of blocks around the town hall and market, then the gradual loosening of streets as they head into the barangays. Creeks and irrigation channels cut across the plain at their own angles, adding a few irregular curves to an otherwise straight composition. It is a modest map, but a clear one.
The main highway through Central Luzon passes straight through town, acting as a spine that the rest of the street network hangs from.
Beyond the centre, streets thin into farm roads and field boundaries, giving the outer part of the poster a calm, open texture.
Creeks and channels cross the flat plain at odd angles, breaking up the straight roads with a few soft curves.

Koteā ko Gerona
People hang a map of Gerona because it is home, or because a family story began there before a move to Manila or abroad. A plain street map says that quietly, without needing a photograph, and it works just as well in a small hallway as above a desk.
You can add your own title, a subtitle such as a family name or a year, and the coordinates line. Choose from five styles, Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, and order either a $9 HD digital file or a printed poster.
