Te mapa
Gómez Palacio lies in the state of Durango, directly across the Nazas River from Torreón in Coahuila. Together with Lerdo, they form the metropolitan area of the Comarca Lagunera, and the state border follows the riverbed between them. On the map the Nazas appears as a wide, often dry channel, a pale seam between two dense urban grids.
The city grew from a railway station in the late nineteenth century, and its streets follow a regular grid of straight blocks across flat, dry ground. Railway lines and industrial areas sit around the centre, while irrigation canals and fields extend outward across the valley. A Gómez Palacio map poster shows that ordered pattern at a glance.
The Laguna region became one of Mexico's major cotton-growing areas in the early twentieth century thanks to irrigation from the Nazas and Aguanaval rivers, and dairy farming and industry are important today. The grid of farmland around the city, broken by canals, gives the surroundings a texture that echoes the streets within.
The broad, often dry bed of the Nazas separates Gómez Palacio from Torreón, a pale band marking both a river and the border between two states.
Straight streets laid out around the old station form a regular, even grid on the flat valley floor, easy to read at any print size.
Canals and rectangular fields surround the city, extending its geometric pattern into the countryside of the Comarca Lagunera.

Koteā ko Gómez Palacio
Gómez Palacio is often seen as Torreón's neighbour, yet it has its own clear identity, visible in its grid and its river edge. The map makes a proud gift for anyone from La Laguna, at home or living across the border.
