Te mapa
Guangyuan sits in the far north of Sichuan, where the Jialing River cuts through mountains on its way south to the Sichuan Basin. The city has little flat ground, so it follows the river valley in a long, narrow shape. On the map, the streets are pressed between the water and the slopes, and bridges link districts on either bank.
This route has long been the main passage between Sichuan and the north. Old roads, a railway and modern expressways all squeeze through the same valleys, and tunnels and viaducts appear as short breaks in their lines. Further south in the region is Jianmen Pass, a famous narrow gap in the cliffs on the old road to Chengdu.
A Guangyuan map poster brings out the contrast between the bending river, the thin bands of city along it and the contour-like pattern of the hills around. The city is traditionally linked to Wu Zetian, the only woman to rule China as emperor in her own name, and the cliff carvings of the Thousand Buddha Cliff stand beside the river north of the centre.
The river winds through the city in wide curves, with districts built on the flatter land at each bend. It is the main line of the whole map.
Road, rail and expressway lines all compete for the same narrow valleys, tunnelling and bridging through the hills in long, nearly parallel paths.
A cliff face above the river north of the centre, carved with Buddhist niches over many centuries. On the map it sits where the valley narrows.

Koteā ko Guangyuan
Guangyuan is a gateway city between two regions, and many people pass through it or leave it for work in bigger cities. A map of the river and hills shows why the place looks the way it does and makes a quiet, personal piece for a wall.
Edit the title and subtitle to mark a hometown or a trip along the old road to Shu, and adjust the coordinates. Choose from five styles; Blueprint shows the river clearly, and Paper gives the hills a softer look.
