Te mapa
Güiria sits near the tip of the Paria Peninsula in Sucre State, on the calm waters of the Gulf of Paria. It is one of the Venezuelan towns closest to Trinidad, and boats have long crossed between the two. On a map the town is a compact grid pressed against the shoreline, with the harbour and fishing piers marking the waterfront.
Behind the town the land rises toward the forested mountains of the peninsula, so the streets soon run into hills and wetland. This coast is close to where Columbus reached the American mainland on his third voyage in 1498. A Güiria map poster frames the town between water and green slopes, a narrow strip of streets on the edge of a continent.
Fishing sets the rhythm of the waterfront, with small boats, jetties and working quays along the shore. The gulf itself appears as a wide, empty field on the poster, which makes the town's outline all the sharper. For people who have left the Paria coast, or have family there, Güiria is defined by the sea on one side and the mountains on the other.
Piers and quays line the gulf side of town, where fishing boats and ferries have long connected Güiria with the surrounding coast and with Trinidad.
The centre is laid out in a tight, regular grid of short blocks, a clear pattern that stands out sharply against the open water.
The forested ridges of the Paria Peninsula rise behind the town. They limit its growth inland and leave only a narrow band of streets along the coast.

Koteā ko Güiria
For many people Güiria means the sea, family and the crossing to Trinidad, whether they still live on the peninsula or somewhere else. You can add your own title, a subtitle with a name or year, and a coordinates line pointing to home.
Choose Blueprint for the feel of a nautical chart, Sand for a warm coastal look, or Classic black & white, Noir or Paper. Files come in six print sizes, each as a PNG and a PDF, and printed posters on matte paper can be delivered framed.
