Te mapa
Gwynn Oak lies just beyond Baltimore's western city line, in Baltimore County. On a map, it is a mix of older street grids extending from the city and more irregular suburban roads. The stream valley of Gwynns Falls runs nearby, bringing a long, winding band of green through the built-up area.
The name is closely tied to Gwynn Oak Amusement Park, which operated here for decades. In 1963 it became the site of civil rights protests against its whites-only policy, leading to its desegregation that year. The park closed in the 1970s, and the land is now a public park along the water.
A Gwynn Oak map poster shows a neighbourhood at the meeting point of city and suburb. The street pattern changes texture as you move across the sheet, and the stream valley adds a soft, curving line through the middle. It is a map with history held quietly in its layout.
The stream and its wooded banks cut a winding corridor through the area, adding a flowing line and open space among the streets.
The site of Gwynn Oak Amusement Park, now a public park, sits by the water and marks a notable chapter in the civil rights movement.
Baltimore's grid meets the looser suburban street pattern here, creating a visible shift in texture across the map.
