Te mapa
Habhab lies in Diyala Province in eastern Iraq, in the flat, fertile country north of Baghdad. From above, the town is a modest cluster of streets surrounded by farmland. The terrain is almost perfectly level, and the pattern on the map comes not from hills but from water: canals, ditches and field boundaries dividing the land into plots.
Roads run out from the town between orchards and cultivated fields, and irrigation channels branch off in fine lines towards the farms. Tree cover and gardens appear around the houses, and on a detailed map the green of the orchards stands out sharply from the open ground. The built-up area is compact, with open land close by on every side.
Diyala has been farmed for thousands of years, and the region is known for its orchards and date palms. The Habhab map poster keeps the view simple and honest: a small town, its streets, and the network of water and fields around it. In black and white, the irrigation pattern becomes a delicate, almost graphic texture.
Canals and ditches branch through the farmland in fine lines, the most distinctive pattern around the town on the map.
Cultivated plots and orchards surround the town, their boundaries forming a mosaic that fills the edges of the frame.
The streets of Habhab form a tight cluster at the centre, with roads leading out across the level plain.
