Te mapa
Hakui faces the Sea of Japan along the western coast of the Noto Peninsula in Ishikawa Prefecture. On a map, the shoreline is its defining feature: a long, gently curving line of sand running north to south with almost no indentation. Behind it, the city spreads across a narrow coastal plain before rising into forested hills inland.
Chirihama Nagisa Driveway runs along part of this coast. It is a stretch of beach firm enough for cars to drive along the water's edge. Inland, Hakui is home to Keta Taisha, a historic shrine regarded as the principal shrine of the old Noto province. In more recent years, the city has cultivated a playful association with UFOs.
A Hakui map poster sets the smooth coastline against the more detailed pattern of the town and its surrounding rice paddies. The rail line and main road run parallel to the sea and add structure to the composition. The hills to the east give the drawing a soft inland edge.

The historic shrine sits at the northern edge of the city among trees. It appears as a small green enclosure set apart from the streets.
Rail and road run side by side along the plain between sea and hills. Together they draw long parallel lines through the centre of the city.

Koteā ko Hakui
Hakui may be where someone drove along the beach at sunset, visited the shrine, or grew up between the sea and the paddies. A clean map of its coastline makes a calm, meaningful piece for any room.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, for example with a Japanese place name or a travel date. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. HD files cost $9, and printed posters with an optional wooden frame ship from partners in over 30 countries.
