Te mapa
Hat Yai is the largest city in Songkhla Province and the main commercial centre of southern Thailand, even though it is not the provincial capital. It grew around the railway junction where lines to Malaysia and to the east coast divide. Its central district is a compact grid of shopping streets and markets set close to the station.
The city lies on a low plain drained by the U-Tapao canal toward Songkhla Lake, and flooding has shaped its planning. Drainage channels and diversion canals run around the urban area. Its position near the Malaysian border makes it a major destination for cross-border shopping and travel, and Songkhla's coast lies a short drive to the east.
A Hat Yai map poster shows a railway town that became a regional centre. A dense central grid stands beside the tracks, and ring roads and canals curve around it, with the suburbs thinning out into rubber plantations and fields. The mix of straight tracks and meandering waterways gives the composition a pleasing tension.

The main waterway draining the plain toward Songkhla Lake. Along with added flood channels, it creates flowing curves around the urban core.
Close to the station, a tight block of shopping streets forms the city's densest area and the visual centre of the map.

Koteā ko Hat Yai
Hat Yai has hosted generations of travellers, students and traders from both sides of the border. A map of its centre makes a good souvenir of a trip, a posting or years spent in the south.
You can customise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, and choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Classic black & white keeps the railway lines and canals crisp and easy to read.
