Te mapa
Helao Nafidi is a town in the Ohangwena Region of northern Namibia, formed by grouping several neighbouring settlements under one council. It sits directly on the border with Angola and includes Oshikango, one of the busiest crossing points between the two countries. Much of the town's trade and traffic runs through that crossing.
The land here is almost completely flat. It is crossed by oshanas, the shallow seasonal channels that fill with water after the rains and dry out again later in the year. On a map, the built-up areas stretch along the main road, and homesteads, open ground and faint tracks spread out loosely on either side.
A Helao Nafidi map poster shows this spread-out, linear form. Instead of a single dense centre, there are clusters of streets strung along the road that leads to the border. With no terrain to crowd them, the settlements have room to grow outward. The overall look is spacious and open.
The border post at Oshikango is where the main road from the south reaches Angola. Warehouses and trading streets gather around the crossing point.
The road through Helao Nafidi is the spine that links its settlements. On the map it runs as one clear line, with most of the town arranged along it.
Seasonal water channels and open ground surround the built areas. The map's loose, low-density edges reflect the flat landscape of the Owambo north.
