Te mapa
Hernando is the county seat of DeSoto County in north-west Mississippi, a short drive south of Memphis. Both the town and the county are named after the Spanish explorer Hernando de Soto. On a map, the centre is a classic courthouse square, with a grid of older streets around it and newer subdivisions spreading outward.
Interstate 55 runs along the edge of town, linking Hernando with Memphis to the north and Jackson to the south. Beyond the historic grid, the map shows the curving streets and cul-de-sacs of modern neighbourhoods, along with parks, lakes and farmland. The square is known locally for its farmers' market and community events.
A Hernando map poster brings together the geometry of the old courthouse square and the looser, winding shapes of the suburban growth around it. The interstate adds a strong straight line. It is a clear picture of a Southern town that has kept its historic centre while becoming part of the Memphis area.

The interstate runs past the town on its way from Memphis to Jackson, giving the map a long, direct line.
Newer neighbourhoods with curving streets and cul-de-sacs spread out around the historic core, visibly different from the older grid.
