Te mapa
Hilden sits in the Mettmann district of North Rhine-Westphalia, in the belt of towns just south-east of Düsseldorf. From above it looks tightly built: a dense core of short, bending streets, rings of postwar housing around it, and motorways running close past its edges. The Rhine is not far to the west, but the town itself grew inland on flatter ground.
The small Itter stream runs through the town in a green strip, one of the few curved lines in an otherwise orderly street plan. To the east the built-up area gives way to the Hildener Heide, a stretch of heath and woodland whose footpaths show up on the map as fine, unconnected threads. That contrast between the dense centre and the open eastern edge is what gives the town its outline.
Hilden is known as the birthplace of Wilhelm Fabry, the Renaissance surgeon also called Fabricius Hildanus, and the town museum is named after him. A Hilden map poster keeps all of this in one frame: the old market streets at the centre, the rail line crossing them, and the heath fading out at the margin.

Heath and woodland on the eastern side of town. Its sandy paths make a loose web of lines that stands out against the tight street grid next to it.
Major motorways pass along the town's boundaries, and their wide interchanges frame the built-up area on the map almost like a border.

Koteā ko Hilden
For people who grew up here or commute from here to Düsseldorf or Cologne, Hilden is the familiar town between the big cities. A print of its streets and heath marks that place quietly on a wall, whether it is a first flat, a family home or a move away.
You can set your own title and subtitle, such as a street name or a moving-in date, and edit the coordinates line. The poster comes in five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand.
