Hlaing River edge
The township's eastern boundary follows the Hlaing River, and bridges link it to the rest of Yangon. That makes a clear line of water down one side of the print.

Te mapa
Hlaingthaya lies west of the Hlaing River, across the water from the older parts of Yangon. The land is low and level, part of the Irrawaddy delta plain, and the map shows it plainly. Long straight roads mark out industrial zones and housing wards, while creeks and drainage channels cut across the gaps between them.
The township grew quickly from the late twentieth century as a planned expansion area for the city. Factories, especially garment works, drew workers from across the country, and the population now rivals that of a major city in its own right. Bridges across the Hlaing tie it to central Yangon, and the main roads west lead out into the delta.
A Hlaingthaya map poster records a newer kind of urban landscape. There is no old town at its centre. Instead there are repeated blocks, broad arterial roads and industrial parcels, bounded by river water on the east. For people who live and work there, it is a precise picture of a place that rarely gets drawn on its own.
The township's eastern boundary follows the Hlaing River, and bridges link it to the rest of Yangon. That makes a clear line of water down one side of the print.
Large rectangular parcels of factory land sit among the residential streets, and their broad, simple outlines give the map a strong graphic rhythm.
Small creeks and drainage channels thread through the flat terrain. They show that the township is built on low delta land that is never far from water.

Koteā ko Hlaingthaya
Many people in Yangon today built their working lives in Hlaingthaya or grew up there. A map of the township itself, not the whole city, recognises it as its own place with its own streets.
You can set the title, subtitle and coordinates to mark a street, a ward or a year that matters to you. Then choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand.
