Te mapa
Honnavar lies on the coast of Uttara Kannada district in Karnataka, where the Sharavathi River reaches the Arabian Sea. From above, the estuary dominates the map: a wide body of water with islands and channels, opening to the sea beside a sandy shore. The town sits along the northern bank, its streets arranged between the river and the coast.
The coastal highway crosses the Sharavathi near Honnavar on a long bridge, which appears as a strong straight line over the water. The Sharavathi is the same river that plunges over Jog Falls further inland, one of the highest waterfalls in India, before flowing down to the coast here.
Honnavar has long been a small port, and its waterfront and backwaters shape its layout. A Honnavar map poster shows this meeting of river, sea and land in clean black and white: the estuary, the bridge, the islands and the town spread along the shore.

A straight, sandy coastline runs along the western edge, giving the map a clear boundary between land and sea.
