Te mapa
Hosapete is the headquarters of Karnataka's Vijayanagara district, set on the approach to the Tungabhadra River in a landscape of granite boulders, low rocky hills and irrigated fields. The town itself is compact, gathered around its railway station and main roads, but the map around it is dominated by water and stone rather than by streets.
Just to the northwest, the Tungabhadra Dam holds back a vast reservoir whose irregular shoreline spreads across the plain, feeding canals that run through the surrounding farmland. On a map the dam appears as a long straight line against the water, one of the most striking man-made features anywhere in the region.
A short drive northeast lies Hampi, the former capital of the Vijayanagara Empire and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, its temples and ruins scattered among the boulders along the river. Hosapete itself was founded by Vijayanagara rulers in the sixteenth century. A Hosapete map poster places the town between those two landmarks, dam and ruins, in a single frame.
The long dam wall and its sprawling reservoir sit northwest of town, a large area of water with a ragged edge that gives the poster a dramatic counterweight.
Irrigation channels leave the reservoir and wind across the fields around Hosapete, drawing fine curving lines through the farmland on every side.
The route toward the ruins leads through boulder country to the river, where the village and temple complexes of Hampi break the landscape into small clusters.

Koteā ko Hosapete
Hosapete is where many travellers first arrive for Hampi, and where many families have worked on the dam, the railway and the mines. A map of the town, reservoir and river works for both, as a travel keepsake or as a portrait of home.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line are editable, so the poster can read Hospet, Hosapete or Hampi, with a date beneath. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, then order a matte print with an optional wooden frame or the $9 HD download.
