Te mapa
Hoxtolgay is a town in Hoboksar Mongol Autonomous County, in the north of Xinjiang. From above it is compact and orderly: a handful of straight streets and broad blocks set on flat, dry ground. Beyond the last buildings the map empties out quickly, with only roads and tracks heading off across the steppe toward other settlements.
The land around the town belongs to the wide Junggar Basin, a region of semi-desert plains ringed by distant mountain ranges. On a map this gives Hoxtolgay a particular quality. It reads as a single cluster of lines in a large white field, where each road leaving town matters because there are so few of them.
A Hoxtolgay map poster keeps that sense of scale. The town's planned blocks sit at the centre, and the long straight roads into the basin fill the rest of the frame. The result is spare and quiet, and suits anyone who knows how far this part of northern Xinjiang can feel from everywhere else.
The centre is laid out in straight streets and large rectangular blocks, a planned pattern that shows up clearly in black and white against the open ground around it.
A few long roads run out from town across the flat land. On the poster they become thin, confident lines that lead the eye to the edge of the frame.
Most of the surrounding map is empty. That white space is the landscape of the Junggar Basin, and it gives the small town at the centre its weight.

Koteā ko Hoxtolgay
People hang a map of Hoxtolgay because it is home, or because they worked or grew up somewhere in this corner of Xinjiang. A plain street plan carries that memory without needing a photograph.
You can set your own title, subtitle and coordinates line, adding a family name or a year. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, and download the HD files for $9 or order a printed poster.
