Te mapa
Hyde Park is the southernmost neighbourhood of Boston. It was an independent town until it was annexed to the city in 1912. From above, it is shaped by water and woodland. The Neponset River runs along its south-eastern edge, Mother Brook branches off toward Dedham, and the Stony Brook Reservation covers the wooded hills to the west.
Rail lines cross the neighbourhood from north to south, and stations such as Hyde Park and Readville anchor small commercial centres. Cleary Square is the traditional heart. The residential streets curve over gently rolling ground, in a pattern much less regular than downtown Boston's grid.
A Hyde Park map poster shows a Boston neighbourhood with its own history. During the Civil War, Camp Meigs in Readville was where the 54th Massachusetts Infantry trained, one of the first official Black regiments in the Union Army. Today the old fields, rivers and rail yards form a varied, textured composition.
The river winds along the neighbourhood's edge, with wetlands and green banks. It gives the poster a soft, organic boundary.
Forested hills fill the western side of Hyde Park. On the map they appear as a large open area, crossed only by winding paths and roads.
Railway lines and old rail yards cross the neighbourhood's south. Their long, straight lines contrast with the curving residential streets.

Koteā ko Hyde Park
Hyde Park is where many Boston families have lived for generations, and where newcomers find a quieter corner of the city. A map poster marks a home, a childhood street or a family history rooted here.
Personalise the title, add a subtitle like a street name or year, and choose from Classic, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Digital files cost $9 in six sizes, and matte prints can be framed and shipped.
