Te mapa
Jaguaripe lies in the southern Recôncavo of Bahia, on the river that shares its name, not far from where the waters open toward the Bay of All Saints and the island of Itaparica. Water dominates the map. The river bends in broad curves fringed by mangrove channels, and the town occupies a small patch of higher ground beside it.
It is one of the older settlements of the region and dates from the colonial period. Its historic centre keeps a colonial church and townhouses near the waterfront. For much of its history the river was the main route in and out, and boats carried goods and people to Salvador. The municipality also includes fishing villages scattered along the estuary.
A Jaguaripe map poster is mostly about land and water. The town is a small, tight cluster, the river and its side channels flow around it, and the roads reaching inland look slight by comparison. In a clean black-and-white style the estuary becomes the main subject, as it has always been here.
The wide, winding river loops past the town on its way to the sea, and its curves give the map a soft, fluid structure.
Narrow side channels and tidal inlets thread through the low mangrove wetlands and leave fine, branching lines around the edges of the poster.
The historic core sits close to the riverbank. It is a compact group of old streets that was built to face the water rather than the road.

Koteā ko Jaguaripe
Jaguaripe is a place people reach slowly, by road through the Recôncavo or by boat along the river, and it tends to stay with them. A map of it is a quiet reminder of that arrival and of a town that still lives facing the water.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, and choose from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Sand gives the estuary a warm, coastal tone. Printed posters on matte paper, with an optional wooden frame, ship from partners in 30+ countries.
