Te mapa
Janīn stands in the northern West Bank, where the hills descend toward the broad agricultural plain that opens to the north. The map shows a city built partly on slopes and partly on flatter ground, with a dense older centre, streets winding up the hillsides and newer districts spreading along the main roads.
The city has long been a market town for the surrounding farming villages, and its position between hills and plain has made it a crossroads for centuries. Adjoining the city on its western side is the Jenin refugee camp, established in the early 1950s, whose tightly packed streets form a distinct pattern on the map.
A Janīn map poster traces the way terrain shapes a city. Roads follow contours on the slopes, straighten on the flat land and converge on the centre. The fields beyond the built-up area give the print breathing room, while the dense core and its surroundings hold the eye.
The city sits at the transition between upland slopes and open farmland. Street patterns change accordingly, curving on the hills and running straighter across the flat ground.
The historic core is a close network of narrow streets and markets, forming the darkest and most detailed part of the black-and-white map.
On the western side, the refugee camp forms a compact, tightly built area with very narrow lanes, clearly distinct from the surrounding city in its texture.

Koteā ko Janīn
For people from Janīn and its surrounding villages, including those living far away, a map of the city is a way to keep home close. The streets, slopes and plain are all there, drawn without commentary.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, adding a family name, a neighbourhood or a date. The poster is available in Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand.
