Te mapa
Nablus lies in a valley in the northern West Bank, squeezed between Mount Ebal to the north and Mount Gerizim to the south. The city stretches east to west along the valley floor and climbs the lower slopes on both sides. From above, it looks like a long band of streets pressed between two blank masses of hillside, which gives the map an unusually strong shape.
The city was refounded by the Romans in 72 CE as Flavia Neapolis, the source of its present name. Its old city of covered markets, mosques, bathhouses and stone lanes is one of the most complete in the region. Nablus is known for its olive-oil soap and for kunafa, and a small Samaritan community lives on Mount Gerizim.
A Nablus map poster shows the fine, irregular grain of the old city at the centre, newer neighbourhoods spreading along the valley and streets curving up the mountainsides. Few cities show their topography so clearly through street patterns alone, and the layout stays recognisable even at a glance.
A tight cluster of lanes, markets and courtyards in the heart of the valley. On the poster it forms the densest, most intricate area of the map.
The two mountains frame the city to the north and south. Their slopes appear as open space broken by winding roads, clearly marking the edges of the valley.
The main roads run lengthwise through the valley, tying the eastern and western districts together and giving the city its elongated outline.

Koteā ko Nablus
For people from Nablus, and for the many who have moved away, the city's valley shape is instantly familiar. A map shows the old city, the neighbourhoods and the mountains in one calm view, a way of keeping a specific place on the wall.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can be personalised, in Arabic transliteration or English, and the map comes in five styles, including Paper and Sand. The digital files are $9 and include six print sizes with no watermark.
