Te mapa
Jiayi lies in Hotan Prefecture in southern Xinjiang, in the band of oases between the Kunlun Mountains to the south and the Taklamakan Desert to the north. People can live here because meltwater comes down from the mountains, and it is carried across the flat ground through irrigation canals.
From above, that water system is what defines the place. Straight canals and field boundaries form a patchwork grid, roads run alongside them, and houses and orchards line both sides. Rows of poplars, often planted as windbreaks in these oases, add fine linear detail. Outside the irrigated area the map quickly goes blank, which reflects how dry the land is.
A Jiayi map poster captures that contrast: a detailed, cultivated core surrounded by empty space. It is a quiet composition, and it shows plainly how much a settlement on the old southern Silk Road routes depends on water.
Canals and field edges form long parallel lines across the oasis. They set the direction of roads and houses and give the map a regular, woven structure.
The cultivated land ends abruptly, and the dense pattern of fields gives way to open ground. This produces a sharp border on the poster.
The oasis depends on water from the Kunlun range to the south. Channels running north across the plain reflect that direction of flow.

Koteā ko Jiayi
For people with roots in southern Xinjiang, this map shows the careful pattern of irrigated life at the desert's edge. For others it is an unusual, almost textile-like design that stands apart from the usual city grids.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, for example with a place name in your own script or a meaningful date. Then choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Sand matches the surrounding desert well.
