Te mapa
Jingdezhen lies in a valley among the hills of northeastern Jiangxi, and the Chang River runs through it from north to south, dividing the older eastern side from newer districts to the west. Several bridges cross the river in the centre, and green hills close in around the edges, limiting how far the streets can spread.
The old core has a distinctive fine-grained pattern of narrow lanes, many of which once led between kilns, workshops and potters’ houses. Newer boulevards cut through it, and recent districts spread along the river valley, but the density of the historic centre still stands out as a tight weave of short streets beside the water.
Jingdezhen has produced porcelain for more than a thousand years and supplied the imperial court during the Ming and Qing dynasties, which earned it the title of porcelain capital. The site of the imperial kilns lies in the middle of the city. A Jingdezhen map poster, like the blue-and-white wares, relies on fine lines and a restrained palette.
The river runs down the middle of the city in a gentle curve, crossed by a series of bridges and lined by embankment roads on both banks.
At the heart of the old town, the former imperial kiln compound forms a clear block among the lanes, surrounded by streets once devoted to porcelain work.
Wooded hills rise on all sides, so the built area fills the valley floor and follows side valleys rather than spreading evenly across flat ground.

Koteā ko Jingdezhen
Collectors, ceramicists and students of Chinese art often feel a strong link to Jingdezhen, and many have spent time in its studios. A map of the city is a fitting companion to a shelf of porcelain, and its river and lanes suit a crisp monochrome treatment.
The Blueprint style echoes blue-and-white porcelain, though Classic black & white, Noir, Paper and Sand are also available. Add a personal title, subtitle and date, then download the files for $9 or order a matte printed poster with or without a wooden frame.
