Te mapa
Kariya lies in the Akō area of southwestern Hyōgo Prefecture, on the coast of the Seto Inland Sea. The broader town of Akō is widely known in Japan for its link to the story of the forty-seven ronin, whose lord ruled from the castle here, and the remains of that castle still stand near the shore.
From above, the area is defined by water. The Chikusa River runs down to the sea on one side, the coastline curves along the south, and low hills rise behind the town to the north. Between them, streets form a fairly dense grid, with the old castle-town layout visible in places and later development filling the flat ground.
A Kariya map poster captures a coastal Japanese town with a clear historical core and a strong natural frame. In print, the river mouth, the shoreline and the compact grid make a composition with real structure. It suits people from Akō and anyone drawn to the story that made the town famous.
The Chikusa River meets the Seto Inland Sea near the town. Its wide lower course and estuary form a strong vertical line on the map.
Around the remains of Akō Castle, the street pattern keeps traces of the Edo-period castle town, with compact blocks set out on the coastal flat.
The coast runs along the southern edge, and embankments and harbour areas shape the waterfront where the town meets the calm inland sea.

Koteā ko Kariya
Akō has a story known across Japan, and many people feel connected to it. A map of Kariya with its river, coast and castle-town streets carries that association while remaining a minimalist piece for a modern room.
