Te mapa
Khmelnytskyi lies in western Ukraine on the Southern Bug River, which curls around the city in a series of bends. The historic centre sits within this curve, and its streets follow a largely regular grid, a pattern that makes the city easy to read from above and gives the centre a strong, rectangular core.
Until 1954 the city was called Proskuriv, and it was renamed after the seventeenth-century hetman Bohdan Khmelnytskyi. It is also known for one of the largest open-air markets in Ukraine, a sprawling area of stalls on the city's edge. A pedestrian street runs through the centre, and parks line parts of the riverbank.
A Khmelnytskyi map poster shows how clearly the river defines the city. The water wraps around the older districts, larger residential areas spread beyond it in broad blocks, and railway lines cut across in long straight strokes. The result is a map with both order and movement, a geometric grid held inside a flowing natural line.
The river bends around the centre in wide loops, forming a natural boundary on the map and creating parkland and green banks along much of its course through the city.
The historic core is laid out in regular blocks, with parallel streets that give the centre a clean, orderly look compared with the looser districts further out.
Rail tracks cross the city in long, straight strokes, dividing districts and adding strong linear elements that contrast with the curving shape of the river.

Koteā ko Khmelnytskyi
For people who grew up in Khmelnytskyi or have family there, a map of the city is a way to hold on to home, especially for those now living far away. The familiar grid and river bends make it instantly recognisable to anyone who knows the streets.
Add a title in Latin or Cyrillic script, a subtitle such as a street or year, and the coordinates line, then choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Every version is available as an HD file or a printed poster.
