Te mapa
Seen from above, Zhytomyr is shaped by the Teteriv River. The river loops along the city's southern and eastern edges, cutting through granite outcrops that break its banks into cliffs and small islands. The old centre sits on the high ground above the water. From there the street grid opens west and north over flatter land, and long radial roads lead out towards Kyiv, Berdychiv and Novohrad-Volynskyi.
Zhytomyr is one of the older cities in Ukraine, and local tradition dates its founding to the late ninth century. It is also the birthplace of Serhiy Korolov, the engineer behind the early Soviet space programme, and a museum of cosmonautics now stands in his home district. On a map these layers show up as a tight historic core, wide Soviet-era avenues and quieter residential blocks between them.
A Zhytomyr map poster keeps only the lines: the curve of the Teteriv, the smaller Kamianka joining it, the parks along the water, and the dense net of streets on the plateau. Printed in black and white, the city's layout reads clearly, with a river town on stone at the centre and a regional capital around it.
The Teteriv swings around the southern side of the city in wide bends. Rocky banks and wooded slopes make it the strongest natural line on the whole map.
The small Kamianka river runs through the city from the north and meets the Teteriv near the old centre, splitting the street pattern into distinct neighbourhoods.
Main roads leave the centre like spokes towards neighbouring towns, a pattern typical of older Ukrainian regional capitals that shows up clearly on a map.

Koteā ko Zhytomyr
Zhytomyr is a familiar place for many people: the city where they studied, served, grew up or left from. A poster of its river bends and radial streets marks that connection quietly, without leaning on postcard images.
You can change the title, subtitle and coordinates line to add a family name, a street or a date that matters. There are five styles to choose from: Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand.
