Te mapa
Kimitsu lies on the eastern shore of Tokyo Bay in Chiba Prefecture, on the Boso Peninsula. Its map falls into two very different parts. Along the coast, a large area of reclaimed land holds one of Japan's major steelworks, drawn as broad rectangular blocks and straight quays reaching into the bay. Inland, the city rises into wooded hills.
Between the two, the Obitsu River runs down from the interior toward the bay. The main residential areas cluster near the coast and along the rail line around Kimitsu Station. Further inland the population thins, and roads wind through valleys past reservoirs, farmland and forest, which together make up much of the city's large area.
A Kimitsu map poster brings industry and landscape into one frame. The hard geometry of the steelworks and harbour, the gentle curve of the river and the natural patterns of the hills create an unusual contrast. The city is also a short drive from the Tokyo Bay Aqua-Line landing at neighbouring Kisarazu, a reminder of how close the capital is.

The river winds from the hills toward Tokyo Bay, drawing a soft line between the industrial coast and the residential districts inland.
Much of the city is hilly and forested. Narrow roads follow the valleys, and reservoirs appear as irregular shapes among the ridges.

Koteā ko Kimitsu
Kimitsu is home to generations of steelworkers and their families, and to people who know its quieter inland valleys. This map shows both sides of the city, which makes it a meaningful gift for anyone with ties to the bay.
