Te mapa
Komae is a city in western Tokyo Metropolis and one of the smallest municipalities in Japan by area. It lies on the north bank of the Tama River, facing Kawasaki across the water, and is almost entirely residential. On a map, the city boundary encloses a dense patchwork of houses, narrow streets and small plots, with very little empty space between them.
The Tama River forms the southern edge, a broad band of water with wide grassy banks used for walking, cycling and sports. The Odakyu Line crosses the city, and its stations anchor small shopping areas. Away from the tracks, many streets follow the irregular lines of old field paths and irrigation channels, which produces the winding, fine-grained pattern typical of Tokyo's suburbs.
A Komae map poster shows a compact city in fine detail, where every lane and plot becomes part of the design. The strong curve of the river against the dense residential texture makes a clear, balanced composition. It is a thoughtful choice for anyone who has lived along this stretch of the Tama, or who likes the intricate order of Tokyo's neighbourhoods.
The river and its wide flood banks form a broad, calm band along the southern edge. It is the largest open shape on the poster and balances the dense streets.
The railway crosses the city in a steady line, and the station areas show up as slightly denser clusters of streets and small shopping lanes.
Many streets trace the lines of former field paths and waterways, so the residential blocks form a winding, organic mosaic rather than a grid.

Koteā ko Komae
People tend to remember Komae for its quiet streets and evenings by the river. A map of the city keeps that small scale intact and makes a considered gift for someone who is moving away or just settling in.
