Te mapa
Shinjuku is organised around its station, one of the busiest in the world, whose broad band of tracks divides the district into two very different halves on the map. To the west lies a planned business area of large rectangular blocks carrying the skyscrapers, including the twin-towered Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building. To the east the streets tighten into a close, irregular pattern.
East of the tracks is Kabukicho, a dense entertainment quarter, and the narrow alleys of Golden Gai and Omoide Yokocho. Further south-east the map opens into Shinjuku Gyoen, a large national garden with lawns, ponds and a mix of Japanese, English and French landscape styles. Shinjuku Chuo Park sits beside the western towers.
A Shinjuku map poster shows the contrast between order and density in a single frame. The wide grid of the western towers, the thick bundle of rail lines and the fine lattice of eastern lanes each have their own texture, and together they make one of the most graphic street maps in Tokyo.
A wide band of parallel tracks runs north to south through the station. On the poster it becomes a strong vertical line that splits the district into east and west.
West of the station, large regular blocks hold the skyscraper district and the Metropolitan Government Building, drawn as a grid noticeably coarser than anything else nearby.
The national garden forms a large green shape south-east of the station, with winding paths and ponds that stand apart from the straight streets around it.

Koteā ko Shinjuku
Shinjuku means something different to everyone: an office tower, a tiny bar, a hotel room with a view, a walk under the cherry trees in Gyoen. A map lets you hold all of it in one image without choosing.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line to mark your own Shinjuku, then choose Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint in particular brings out the engineered quality of the rail lines and western grid.
