Koungheul Map Poster & Print
Koungheul is in Kaffrine region, in central Senegal, in the belt of farmland long known as the groundnut basin. The land is flat to gently rolling savanna dotted with trees, and fields stretch between small villages. The town is built along a main national road that carries traffic between the west of the country and the east, and that road forms the backbone of the map.
The streets on either side of the highway form a loose grid of wide sandy lanes and walled compounds. Seen from above, the pattern is spacious. The blocks are larger and more open than in a coastal city, and the edges fade gradually into fields and scattered trees. A Koungheul map poster shows this open, horizontal quality clearly.
Roads and tracks leave the town in several directions towards the surrounding villages, and they give the map a star-like frame.
