Te mapa
Kulti lies at the western edge of West Bengal, close to the Barakar River, which marks the border with Jharkhand. It is part of the Asansol urban area, a region shaped by coal mining and heavy industry. On a map its streets connect into a larger chain of towns stretching along the road and rail corridor.
The town is historically associated with iron and steel making. The Kulti works date back to the nineteenth century and were among the earliest in India. Industrial estates, railway sidings and planned staff colonies give parts of the map a regular, gridded character, while the older settlements between them follow a looser pattern.
The Grand Trunk Road passes nearby on its long route across northern India. A Kulti map poster shows a working town from above, with its river edge, rail lines and neighbourhoods set against the open land on the fringe of the Chota Nagpur Plateau.
The river on the western side of the area forms a natural boundary with Jharkhand. It adds a broad, irregular line of water to the edge of the poster.
The large site of the historic iron and steel works stands out as an area of long sheds and internal roads, distinct from the residential streets around it.
Railway lines and the main highway run through the area side by side. They link Kulti to Asansol and beyond and give the map a strong directional axis.
