Te mapa
Kurganinsk lies on the Laba River in Krasnodar Krai, in the southern Russian steppe. The map shows a regular grid of long, straight streets, typical of Cossack settlements in the Kuban, which form large rectangular blocks with houses and gardens. The Laba curves along one side of town. Its floodplain, with channels and wooded banks, forms a softer band against the grid.
The town began as a Cossack stanitsa in the nineteenth century and later grew into a local centre for agriculture and light industry. The surrounding land is some of the most fertile in Russia, and wide fields of grain and sunflowers stretch in all directions beyond the edge of town.
A Kurganinsk map poster presents a clean contrast. On one side is the strict grid of the old stanitsa; on the other, the free curves of the river. Printed in a single tone, the composition is simple and easy to read, a fitting portrait of a steppe town shaped by farming and water.

The river loops past the town with channels and wooded banks. It is the main natural line across the map.
Farmland stretches beyond the edge of town in large parcels. It frames the dense grid with open space.
