Te mapa
La Virginia lies at the western edge of Risaralda department in Colombia, where the Risaralda River flows into the Cauca. The town sits low on the valley floor and is warmer than the coffee towns in the hills around it. The two rivers define its shape. The built-up area fills the land beside the confluence, and the Cauca forms a broad, curving edge.
The streets follow a regular grid of blocks, a common pattern in the towns of the Colombian valleys, with straight streets leading down to the riverbanks. A bridge over the Cauca links La Virginia with the neighbouring department of Valle del Cauca, and roads toward Pereira run east through fields of sugar cane.
The rivers have long given the town both its living and its problems, and floods are part of local memory. A La Virginia map poster shows the town where it meets the water: a grid set against two meandering rivers, a simple composition with a strong natural frame. It is one of the clearest examples of a river-junction town in the Eje Cafetero region.

A bridge carries the road across the wide Cauca toward Valle del Cauca. It shows as a crisp line over the water at the edge of town.
