Te mapa
Laboulaye lies in the far south of Córdoba province, Argentina, on the flat pampas near the border with Buenos Aires province. Like many towns founded along the railways in the late nineteenth century, it is built on a regular grid of square blocks around a central plaza, with the railway passing close to the centre and roads running straight out across the plain.
The town is named after Édouard de Laboulaye, the French jurist and writer known for proposing the idea of the Statue of Liberty. It is an agricultural centre, surrounded by farmland for grain and cattle, and the low terrain around it is dotted with shallow lagoons that fill and shrink with the seasons.
A Laboulaye map poster is a study in regularity. The grid of blocks is almost unbroken, the plaza sits at its heart, and roads leave the town in straight lines across open land. The only irregular shapes come from water and the rail corridor, which gives the print its clarity and calm.
The main square sits at the centre of the grid as a single open block, the focal point from which the rest of the plan extends.
Streets cross at right angles in a near-perfect grid of equal blocks, a layout typical of Argentine railway towns and ideal for minimalist maps.
Shallow lagoons scattered across the surrounding plain add soft, irregular outlines to a landscape otherwise defined by straight roads and field edges.
