Te mapa
José C. Paz lies in the northwestern ring of Greater Buenos Aires. On a map it is almost entirely made of the square blocks typical of the Pampas suburbs, repeated in every direction. A railway line crosses it on a diagonal, main avenues link it to the neighbouring partidos, and small streams run through the grid.
The partido takes its name from José Camilo Paz, the founder of the newspaper La Prensa. It grew mostly in the twentieth century as families settled along the railway, and it became a separate partido in the 1990s. Today it is largely residential, with local commercial streets and a public university.
A José C. Paz map poster has a rhythm of its own. The regular squares form an almost textile pattern, broken by the diagonal railway, a few curving streams and the odd park or open plot. The result is simple, dense and graphic.
Square blocks fill nearly the entire partido. On the map they create an even, repeating pattern that becomes a texture of its own at larger print sizes.
The rail line crosses the grid at an angle, with the station area forming the commercial centre. It is the main line that gives the map direction.
Small watercourses wind through the grid, and open spaces interrupt it here and there. These irregular features stand out against the orderly street pattern.

Koteā ko José C. Paz
For families who have lived in José C. Paz for generations, the grid is not anonymous: every block has a name and a memory. A map of the partido honours that local knowledge in a clean, understated way.
Add your barrio, a family name or a date as the title or subtitle, and keep the coordinates line. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Blueprint emphasises the grid's precision.
