Lake Iseo Map Poster & Print
Lake Iseo lies between the provinces of Bergamo and Brescia in Lombardy, less visited than Garda or Como but with a distinctive shape of its own. It is long and fairly narrow, curving gently from the Val Camonica in the north toward the Franciacorta wine region in the south, where the town of Iseo sits on the shore.
The defining feature is Monte Isola, a large wooded island in the middle of the lake, often described as one of the largest lake islands in Europe. Two much smaller islets lie close to it. In 2016 the artist Christo installed The Floating Piers here, a walkway on the water linking the shore to Monte Isola.
A Lake Iseo map poster shows how the island almost fills the width of the lake, leaving narrow channels on either side. The river Oglio enters from the north and leaves at the south, and the steep shores keep the towns to thin strips along the water.
