Te mapa
Le Bardo lies just west of central Tunis. On the map it looks like a continuation of the capital: close-packed residential blocks, a few main roads leading back toward the city and very little open ground. The streets are irregular rather than gridded. Short, bending lanes are cut through by broader avenues that carry traffic in and out of Tunis.
The town grew around the Bardo palace complex, for centuries a residence of the beys of Tunis. Part of that complex now houses the Bardo National Museum, known for one of the world's largest collections of Roman mosaics. The Tunisian parliament also meets in Bardo, and the 1881 treaty that made Tunisia a French protectorate was signed here and bears its name.
A Le Bardo map poster shows how tightly the town is built. There are few gaps between blocks, and the museum grounds stand out as one of the larger open footprints. In black and white the effect is close to a textile pattern: fine, busy and even across the sheet, with the main roads running through it like seams.

Most of the map is covered in small, irregular blocks with narrow streets between them. The texture is fine and even, typical of the inner suburbs around Tunis.
A few broad routes cut east toward the capital's centre. They show how closely Bardo is tied to the city next door.

Koteā ko Le Bardo
For people who studied, worked or grew up in Bardo, or who visited to see the mosaics, this map keeps that part of greater Tunis close. Its dense pattern also works on its own as a quiet graphic piece.
