Te mapa
Le Pecq lies on the Seine just west of Paris, in one of the river's big meanders. On a map the water sweeps past in a wide curve, with the town set along its bank and bridges joining it to the opposite shore. Behind the riverfront the ground rises sharply, so the streets bend and switch back as they climb towards the plateau where Saint-Germain-en-Laye sits.
The town has a notable place in French railway history. The first passenger line in the Paris region, opened in 1837, ran from Paris to Le Pecq, and only later was it pushed up the slope to Saint-Germain. Today the riverside, the hillside housing and the green terraces above still set the town's character.
A Le Pecq map poster shows how much of the place is defined by water and slope. The Seine forms a strong, clean band across the composition, while the curving roads on the hillside add movement. Parks and wooded edges read as open space, giving the design room to breathe between the denser residential blocks.
The river curves around the town in a broad loop, making a bold white band on the map and setting the direction of the streets along its bank.
Roads wind up the steep escarpment between the river and the Saint-Germain plateau, turning into a set of curves and bends that stands out clearly from above.
Crossings over the Seine tie Le Pecq to the far bank, short straight lines that cut through the curve of the water and connect the two halves of the view.
