Lipkovo lies in northern North Macedonia, in the hills north of Kumanovo and not far from Skopje. On a map, the village follows the terrain: streets wind up the slopes and houses cluster wherever the ground allows, and the roads from the plain below take long switchbacks as they climb.
The municipality stretches over a group of villages in the foothills. Just above the settlement, a reservoir fills a mountain valley, its irregular shoreline standing out clearly among the contour-shaped roads. Most of the surrounding land is hilly pasture, woodland and small fields.
