Liuyin is a town in the municipality of Chongqing, in south-western China, located in the hilly countryside north of the main urban area. The terrain here is uneven, with ridges, valleys and terraced fields, and the town's streets follow the land closely. On a map, roads curve and switch back rather than running in straight lines.
The built-up area forms a relatively compact centre along the main roads, with housing, markets and public buildings clustered where the ground allows. Around it, the landscape is a patchwork of small fields, ponds and wooded slopes, crossed by winding local roads that connect scattered villages.
