Lubliniec lies in the north of Upper Silesia, Poland, close to the historic edge of the region and surrounded by extensive pine forests. On a map the town has a clear historic centre, a rectangular market square with streets leading off in several directions, and around it a wider ring of housing estates, villas and gardens that soon give way to woodland.
Railway lines converge on Lubliniec from several directions, making it a notable junction in the region, and their long, gently curving tracks are among the strongest graphic elements of the map.
