Te mapa
Madison Heights is in Oakland County, Michigan, just north of Detroit. Like much of the metro area, it follows the mile-road system, a large square grid of arterial roads spaced one mile apart and numbered by distance from downtown Detroit. The city lies between 10 Mile and 14 Mile Roads, and each square is filled with its own pattern of residential streets.
Interstate 75 runs through the city on a northwest diagonal, and Interstate 696 crosses its southern part from east to west. The two highways cut through the regular grid and make the map far more dynamic than a simple checkerboard. Along the interstate and main roads are larger commercial and industrial plots, while the residential blocks are small and even.
A Madison Heights map poster captures the Midwest suburban plan with unusual clarity. The mile roads frame the composition, the interstates add movement, and the neighbourhoods fill the squares with fine lines. It is an orderly, graphic image that works well in a modern interior.

Interstate 75 slices diagonally through the grid. It is the strongest line on the map and breaks up the otherwise square composition.
Within each mile square, residential streets form their own small grids and curves, which give the map a finer texture between the main roads.
