The main road to Mae Sai runs straight through the town. Most of the streets are arranged along it, so it forms a clear backbone for the whole poster.

Te mapa
Mae Chan lies in Chiang Rai province, on the main road north from Chiang Rai city towards Mae Sai and the Myanmar border. On a map the town stretches along this highway. Side streets branch off to either side, and the layout is longer than it is wide, a common pattern for Thai towns that grew along a major route.
The Mae Chan River runs through the district. Around the town the land opens into flat paddy fields, then rises westward into forested hills, where villages and tea-growing communities are found on the higher slopes. From above, the fields form a fine mosaic between the town and the hills.
A Mae Chan map poster shows this north-to-south line of settlement against a softer, more organic countryside. The highway gives the drawing a strong spine. The river, the field boundaries and the lanes wandering off into the hills fill in the rest. It is a clear, characterful image of the far north of Thailand.
The main road to Mae Sai runs straight through the town. Most of the streets are arranged along it, so it forms a clear backbone for the whole poster.
The Mae Chan River winds through the district. Its bends provide a natural counterpoint to the straight highway.
Flat fields surround the town in small irregular plots. They give way to more scattered tracks as the land rises towards the western hills.
