Te mapa
Makokou is the capital of Ogooué-Ivindo province in north-eastern Gabon, built along the banks of the Ivindo River. On the map the river is the defining feature, a broad channel that bends past the town, with streets running parallel to the water and others climbing inland. Beyond the last buildings, dense equatorial forest takes over and roads become few.
The town is closely linked to the study and protection of that forest. The nearby Ipassa research station has hosted scientific work for decades and lies within a UNESCO biosphere reserve, and downstream the Ivindo National Park protects a stretch of the river known for its rapids and large waterfalls, including the Kongou Falls.
A Makokou map poster is shaped by the river. The Ivindo sweeps across the frame, the compact town sits on its bank, and the forest leaves wide calm areas on every side. For those who have worked, studied or grown up here, it is an unusually peaceful map, defined as much by what surrounds the town as by the town itself.
The river curves past the town as a wide, strong line, with the main streets set along its banks and river crossings linking the two sides.
The built-up area is small and clearly defined, a modest network of streets that stops sharply where the forest begins.
Protected forest lies close to town, including the Ipassa reserve and, further downstream, Ivindo National Park, both showing on the map as open ground.

Koteā ko Makokou
Makokou tends to stay with the people who know it: residents, researchers, visitors on their way to the falls. A map of the town and its river is a restrained, lasting way to remember time spent there.
Add a title, a subtitle with dates or a name, and adjust the coordinates line. Blueprint suits the river well, and Sand gives a warmer tone. Printed posters ship from partners in over 30 countries, or download the files for $9.
