Te mapa
Manta lies on the Pacific coast of Ecuador, in the province of Manabí, on a stretch of shoreline that curves outward into the ocean. The city follows the coast in a long band, with the port and its breakwater near the centre, beaches to the east and west, and dry, rolling hills rising inland behind the neighbourhoods.
Manta is one of the country's most important fishing ports and a major centre of the tuna industry, with canneries and fleets tied to the harbour. It also has an international airport and a cruise and cargo terminal, and the small town of Montecristi, known for its fine toquilla straw hats, lies a short drive inland.
A Manta map poster shows the harbour's straight breakwater, the grid of the centre, the Murciélago beachfront and the airport's long runway on the eastern side of the city. Together they give the print a mix of hard engineered lines and the soft curve of the Pacific shoreline that frames the whole city.
The harbour's breakwater extends into the Pacific near the centre, a strong straight line that anchors the city's fishing and shipping activity.
Beaches line the coast on both sides of the port, with promenades and avenues following the shoreline in long, smooth curves.
A long runway lies on the eastern side of the city, a clean geometric shape that stands out clearly among the surrounding streets and blocks.
