Massy lies in Essonne, south of Paris, on the edge of the plateau above the Bièvre valley. On the map it is a busy suburb crossed in several directions by transport lines: the RER tracks, the high-speed line and the nearby motorways. Between them lie residential neighbourhoods, large post-war housing estates, business parks and green spaces.
The town is one of the main transport hubs in the Île-de-France region. Massy TGV station allows high-speed trains to connect directions without passing through central Paris, and it sits beside Massy-Palaiseau station on the RER. Orly Airport is not far to the east.
